If you are a little wary of buying skincare and beauty gifts from the store because you do not always know exactly what is in them, homemade beauty gifts can be a nice alternative.
Making them yourself gives you much more control over the ingredients, fragrance and amount you use. You can also choose scents she already likes instead of handing her something aggressively lavender scented because the packaging looked pretty.
Just make sure anything that goes on the skin is made with ingredients intended for cosmetic use and that you follow a reliable recipe.
1. Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub
A jar of pumpkin spice sugar scrub makes a cute Halloween gift, and it is fairly simple to put together.
Give the scrub an autumn look with an orange or amber tint and package it in a clear jar so you can actually see the texture. An orange and black ribbon around the lid immediately makes it feel Halloween appropriate without covering the jar in plastic spiders.
For fragrance, you could go warm and cozy with vanilla, cinnamon or a pumpkin spice inspired cosmetic fragrance.

For these, I would think about what is already in her room before choosing colors. Not every Halloween gift needs to be orange and black. Burgundy, dark green, cream, rust and even pale pink can still work beautifully with fall decor.
7. DIY Pumpkin Trinket or Jewelry Dish
Instead of the pink bow dish we might make for another season, make the Halloween version in the shape of a pumpkin, ghost or scalloped fall leaf.
Air dry clay works well for this.
An orange pumpkin dish with a little gold stem would be adorable, but you could also make a cream-colored ghost dish with a black edge for a teen whose room is more neutral.

This is one of my favorite ideas in the whole list.
Create a small photo display frame with string or thin wire running across the inside and use mini clips to hold Polaroids or photo strips.
For Halloween, decorate the frame with a few mini pumpkins, orange leaves, black ribbon, little bats or a tiny ghost. You do not need to cover the entire thing. A couple of decorations in the corners are enough.
The nicest part is that she can change the photos whenever she wants.
You could make the display so it hangs on a wall, or add a support at the back so it can stand upright on her desk or dresser.
10. Fall Pressed Flower Frame
If you have a lovely garden, this is exactly the kind of project where you should use it.
Pick flowers and leaves from your own garden, press them and arrange them between glass panes in a frame.
For Halloween and fall, choose warm shades such as burgundy, rust, mustard, cream and deep red. Add a few pressed autumn leaves if you have them.

12. Halloween Jewelry Box
An unfinished wooden jewelry box gives you a lot of room to play around.
Paint it black, burnt orange, burgundy or dark green and change the hardware if you want something more polished.
You could add little gold stars, moons or an understated spiderweb pattern inside the lid.
This one takes more work than a simple trinket dish, but it also feels like a more substantial gift.
13. Crochet Fall Flower Bouquet
If you crochet, make her a bouquet she can leave on her desk all through fall.

Add a few Halloween ones too, such as a note to open on October 31 or a funny ‘you’ve got this, witch’ style card if that suits your relationship with her.
Put them into a little orange, black or kraft-paper box – or roll them up inside a decorated jar – and tie it with ribbon.
How to Choose the Right DIY Halloween Gift for Your Teen
You do not have to make the most complicated project on this list.
Actually, I would not even start there.
Start with the girl.
If she loves beauty products, make the sugar scrub or fall perfume roller. If she is always decorating her bedroom, make the Polaroid display or pressed flower frame. If she changes her bag accessories constantly, make the bag charm. If she is away at college and you miss her, send homemade cookie mix, fruit drink powder, ‘open when’ letters and something small for her desk.
And use what you already have whenever you can.
Flowers from your own garden make the pressed flower frame more meaningful. Fabric scraps can become scrunchies. Yarn you already own can turn into a crochet bouquet. Your dehydrator can finally earn its kitchen-counter real estate by making fruit powder.
The homemade part is not valuable simply because you made something with your hands.
It is valuable because you looked at this particular girl, thought about what she likes, and made something specifically for her.
